“One of the best parts of teaching – not just newcomers, but international students also – you realize that they have a goal. It’s not just “I’m here for fun”, but they’re here for a real reason, and just to know that you are even a little part of making it easier for them and helping them to reach that goal – it makes it worth it, I think, at the end of the day.”

Nina Sigh has been teaching EAL for three years now to international students within the University of Winnipeg’s English Language Program and to immigrants at MITT (Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology). She also co-facilitates the Finding Your Voice Life Writing Program for New Canadians at the Millennium Library.
