unConference – Global Peace Index

Have you ever heard of the Global Peace Index? This annual report ranks 163 independent states and territories according to their level of peacefulness. Produced by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), it covers 99.7% of the world’s population and examines what factors can increase or decrease peacefulness.

TEAM offered a special presentation about the Global Peace Index in December 2018. We offered two times for this event to better serve both those who teach in the day and in the evening.

Our presenter, Eduardo Costa, is a Rotary Peace Scholar and IEP Peace Ambassador. An economist, development practitioner, and peace scholar from the Brazilian Amazon, he was a 2010 Rotary Peace Fellow at the Duke/UNC Rotary Peace Center in North Carolina. He later worked as Special Advisor to the Governor of the State of Pará, Brazil. Eduardo is presently working in the PhD Program in Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Manitoba. His presentations about the Global Peace Index in Brazil, Canada, and the United States aim to increase awareness of the drivers of peace as well as give local organizations concrete tools to help build peace in their communities.

TESL Canada Discussion – a TEAM unConference Special Presentation

This TEAM unConference Special Presentation took place in May 2018 and focused on the changes to TESL Canada’s structure and services. We hoped to address any questions our membership had and clarify any misconceptions about what this means for TEAM and for our members.

unConference – Literacy Focus

This evening event took place in March 2018. The focus was ESL Literacy.
